nPower League 1
Saturday 5th November 2011
The Lamex Stadium, Stevenage
Kick Off: 3pm
Weather Forecast: Rain, 13°c
Referee: M Clattenburg (County Durham)
After two trips on the road in succession Boro welcome Sheffield United to The Lamex this weekend, hoping to continue their recent good form and make it to five games unbeaten in League One.
Last time we met…
This is the first ever meeting between the two sides.
Stevenage are likely to name a similar team to that which won at Bury last weekend.
Striker Don Cowan will be hoping to make his first appearance for the club during this game after recovering from a knee injury whilst Darius Charles could return to the squad after a similar injury.
Sheffield United are unlikely to make too many changes from the team that drew 4-4 with Exeter last weekend. Blackpool loanees Matt Phillips and Billy Clarke play their final game for the Blades before returning to their parent club. Both Lee Williamson (leg) and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing (hamstring) are nearing fitness but are unlikely to feature in this game.
The Sheffield United Scout Report
Sheffield United currently sit six points and six places above Boro in 4th after earning 29 points from their 16 games to date.
The Blades are currently unbeaten in their last five games, but picked up just the two wins against Preston (4-2) and Milton Keynes (2-1). The three draws were against city rivals Wednesday (2-2), Leyton Orient (1-1) and most recently an epic 4-4 with Exeter last weekend.
Danny Wilson's men have lost just the once on their travels in the league this season, 1-0 at Wycombe, although they also lost 3-1 at Everton in the Carling Cup. Their league wins away from home have been at Oldham (2-0), Yeovil (1-0) and Preston with draws secured at Tranmere (1-1), Scunthorpe (1-1) and Leyton Orient.
Possible Blades line-up for Saturday (4-4-2 formation)
George Long; Matthew Lowton, Harry Maguire, Neil Collins, Marcus Williams; Matt Phillips, Kevin McDonald, Nick Montgomery, Stephen Quinn; Billy Clarke, Richard Cresswell
Subs from: Chris Porter, Ched Evans, Michael Doyle, Steve Simonsen, Lecsinel Jean-Francois
Man to watch out for...
On loan winger Matt Phillips has been on fire for the Blades during his loan spell from Blackpool. The 20-year old former Wycombe and current England U20 man was sent to Bramall Lane for a month to get some much needed match fitness after a lack of first team opportunities and has performed superbly, scoring five times for United in four games.
